Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) is a business model that involves a non-salaried sales force that is compensated based on their sales volume and the sales volume of those they recruit. MLM is sometimes referred to as network marketing or direct selling. In this system, products are sold directly to consumers by independent representatives who receive a commission on their own sales as well as on the sales of others they recruit into the business. MLM is a controversial business model, with some people considering it a legitimate opportunity for entrepreneurship while others view it as a pyramid scheme that primarily benefits the few at the top.
